Maria and Penelope
I should start a cat shelter! I can't say no to a needy animal. I adopted two torties that were "half price" and long term at Town Lake Animal Center. If you have any issues with spaying or neutering your pets...go to Town Lake and look at the sad faces on all of the unwanted animals. I say shame on anyone who doesn't take this step toward animal management and happiness. They've also decided to put a terrible Petland in South Austin. I couldn't think of a bigger contradiction. I guess there are still uneducated people out there. I'm teaching Ethan about animal overpopulation and how important it is to take care of your pets. Anyway, an awesome home was found for Maria and Penelope. Thanks Emilee for hooking Rocky with the two gals. THanks Rocky for being a great person and sweet cat dad. So far my one woman crusade for kitty placement has been a success.

I've been using my shotty recording equipment to record Ethan's songs. He is actually pretty creative! His lyrics include "I love you in my heart...everyday." Zach G came to visit us from Louisiana and he and bear started a band. Ebear calls it..THE EYEBALL TURDS." I guess my showgaze baby is going punk. I'm glad that blake and I got him into such a great school. The Children's Discovery School is in the Hills off highway 360. When I pick him up from school, they're always playing something cool. He knows the notes on the piano thanks to his dad. Now it's mama's turn to get back to the piano and guitar and write some tunes. Bear loves the Juno soundtrack. Kimya is a personal hero of ours.

So Ethan had his adnoids and tonsils out on June 4th. He also had ear tubes put in. He had over 50% hearing loss in one ear! Now he should be able to hear and speak better. He's recovering in Houstin with mom, nana and pops. He's a trooper though. The first day after the surgery was supposed to be the worst, but I think he sounds worse today. He's eating only soft boring food, which he hates but is getting used to. Last night before we fell asleep, he looked at me and said "I think I love you mom." Doesn't get much sweeter than that. Maybe I'm partial, but I believe that he is one of the smartest and most sensitive kids I have ever met. He's into dragons, ghostbusters 1 and 2, Thomas the Train, Jay Jay Jet Plane, Pretty In Pink, Little Bill, his turtle that nana bought him (thekind with wheels!), his friend Elijah J at school and getting in the mud. We always welcome the rain and a good dance in it! We also went to the San Marcos River recently with Aunt Emilee and some friends. There was a boy about Zachary's age there, so Ethan had a blast. He told Emilee and I "We need one of these at our house!" He was referring to the river. Considering that the Greenbelt runs through our 1970's apartments/duplexes, I know to expect a nature boy. His dad is a nature guy too, so it runs in the family. While we are in Houston, Ryan is watching myrtie and Xia. He says Clyde is following them around meowing. He's such a teddy bear that he could get away with murder! Our new tortie kitten "SamIam" is staying with aunt Emilee. Shooley is just here in Houstin with me and ebear. He's spoiled rotten. Ethan is getting better and better thanks to family. I am lucky to have parents like these. It's good to have a good support system and I'm proud to say the people who mean the most are comprised of our friends and family. They're always there to help.
